History

Saba Group is one of the largest private companies present in the Iranian electricity industry consisting of a number of companies involved in purchase, construction, and operation of power plants. To this end, it holds possession of 5 important power plants with an overall capacity of 3500 MW and operation and maintanence of 7 thermal power plants with a total capacity of 5100 MW.

In 2004

Saba Power and Energy Group was registered in 2004 and was established by full ownership of Mostazafan Foundation for production and sales of electricity.

In 2005

The Group made its first step by purchasing the 418 MW Shahid Modhaj (Zargan) Power Plant of Ahwaz in 2005. Purchase of this plant was a turning point in accomplishing Article 44 of the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Group was the leading company in this respect.

In 2007

Construction of Khorramshar combined cycle power plant began in June 2007 and upon the attendance of the minister of Energy. The first unit of this power plant was added to the circle in March 2008. Synchronization of the first unit of Khorramshahr project within 21 months is a record. Six units of this power plant are operating with the capacity of 972 MW.

More than half of the shares of SANA Company (abbreviated for Power Plant Investment of Iran) was purchased by Saba Group from Privatization Organization of Iran. This company is a major shareholder of the 972 MW Power Plant in Aliabad, Golsetan province. It is also the contractor for construction of Khorramabad 484 MW Power Plant.

In 2010

The 714 MW Qom Combined Cycle Power Plant was put in bid in February 2010 after 18 years of operation in the Iranian electricity network and was purchased by a consortium of the companies affiliated with Mostazafan Foundation including Saba Group for a solid presence in production of electricity and increasing the share in this strategic arena.

In 2012

The Power Plants Operation and Maintenance Company of Saba Group was founded in 2012. This company began its official operation in April 2013 with launching the operation of the first phase of Khorramshahr Power Plant.

In 2013

The 415 MW Chabahar Power Plant was purchased in 2013 from the Privatization Organization of Iran and now plays a key role in provision of electricity in the zone.

In 2017

Saba Group is one of the largest companies in Iranian electricity industry owning 5 strategic power plants including Modhaj (Zargan), Khorramshar, Aliabad, Qom, and Chabahar with an overall capacity of 3500 MW and owning 11 active companies in electricity production and sale.
